Meet Elvis (Pop) Pirker: motor mechanic for 50 years, fisherman, outback traveller, shooter, parrot breeder, environmentalist, VB tester, and chauffeur to his soul-mate, Robyn.
Elvis fitted his trusty Hilux with Rancho RS9000 shocks, and the optional in-cab system, way back in 1992. Since then he and Rob have been almost everywhere in Australia: Arnhem Land, the Kimberleys, Cape York, the Canning Stock Route and the Simpson. You name it and they have probably been there - more than once!
When the Toyota got close to 400,000kms, Elvis decided to give the truck a full bare-metal restoration and make some of his own modifications, to ensure the next 400 grand were even more pleasant.
However, while the shocks were still working perfectly, millions of little stones and specks of sand had removed most of the paint from the outer tubes. Would we do him a deal on some of the latest RS9000X shocks? Sure we would. How could we resist getting hold of some of the most experienced Rancho shocks in the world!
Elvis says. "I'll tell everybody (who will listen) that the Ranchos are the best shocks we have used in nearly 35 years of outback driving".
Well he has to say that now, doesn't he?
Meet John Howard
John Howard called in to say hello.
No, no, no, not the Prime Minister. This John Howard bought a set of Rancho RS9000 shocks from us in 1995. John and his wife, Heather, (who also has Ranchos fitted to her Toyota 4Runner) have had several major trips around Australia - towing a heavy campervan.
John said they can’t believe how long the Ranchos have lasted. Particularly, as one of their friends said to them twelve years ago, “What made you buy those American things?”
Meet Dennis Moulang
Dennis was one of our first Rancho customers. He bought a set of Rancho RS5000 shock absorbers, to suit his 1986 Mitsubishi Pajero, way back in 1990.
Seventeen years later those same shocks are still performing well; and the only thing they have needed is new bushes. Incredible! Especially when you learn that the Moulang’s Pajero has clocked up 400,000 kms - and has already worn out the original engine.

I put the unit together (4Way RTC damper) as per the instructions, bolted it on and took my Suzuki Sierra for a drive. I could not believe the difference. Thanks for your very prompt delivery of the 4WD stuff. It was for my husband’s birthday and he was thrilled to get it early. My husband is very proficient with 4WDs but has never owned one.
We have bought a Mitsubishi Pajero and are planning on eventually joining the grey brigade and traveling - so much easier to do when the kids have left home (and the grandson is too young). At the moment we will start with small day/weekend trips. Hopefully we will not need the (recovery) gear but it is good insurance ‘just in case’.

I am interested in the Rancho RS5000 range of shocks. These have been highly recommended by a mate of mine, who after repeated shock absorber failure on a big outback trip – on heavily corrugated roads – fitted Rancho shocks and has never had a problem since.
He swears they are the best shocks you can get.

I was somewhat dubious about the chances of the damper being able to control the wild behavior of my truck, due to its 15” wide front tyres. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find the damper reduced the directional wanderings of my truck by about 95%.

How come you guys can get stuff to me so quick? A 4WD shop in Adelaide told me it would take them about a week to get what I wanted and then it would take a couple of days to get it up here. I rang you on the Thursday afternoon and it was here in an express bag on Monday morning. I rang the mob in Adelaide and told them not to worry as I already had it. You wouldn’t want to hear what they said. It wasn’t pretty!

The Rancho 9000X's are fitted and I am now rolling on a 2" lift with some 31 Mickey T ATX's - those shocks are fantastic. The TJ no longer does a bum dance round corners nor goes nose down every time I brake. Going to City View 4x4 with the local Jeep fraternity end of month and can't wait to see what they are like off road. Great service as per usual!!
